Philip Francis

Executive Chairman, PetSmart, Inc.

Philip L. Francis is Executive Chairman of PetSmart, North America's leading pet specialty retailer. Prior to joining PetSmart in 1998, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc., headquartered in Massachusetts.

A graduate of the University of Illinois and the Indiana University Business School, Mr. Francis has 38 years of retail and wholesale experience in various leadership positions with Roundy's, Cardinal Health and Jewel Companies. He has been heavily involved in the Chicago, Columbus, Ohio, and Boston United Way organizations, and served on the Board of the National Retail Federation.

In the Phoenix area, he serves on the Greater Phoenix Leadership Board and has been a past Chairman. He is on the ASU WP Carey School of Business Dean's Council of 100, was recently appointed to the Arizona Commerce Authority Board of Directors, and will begin serving on Teach For America's Advisory Board this October. Mr. Francis also serves on the Board of Directors of SUPERVALU Inc. and CareFusion.
