 Governor’s Awards for Energy Efficiency

The Governor’s Award for Energy Efficiency presented on March 21, 2006 recognized energy conservation and renewable energy projects of non-profit educational institutions, local and state government entities, and a top energy advocate for energy-efficient projects. The goal of the awards program is to recognize innovation and accomplishment in energy efficiency and energy management. A total of fifty-two awards were presented for 2005.

The recognition levels included the Award of Excellence and Award of Merit. Lynette Evans, Governor’s Office, Policy Advisory for Regulatory Affairs, and Ken Clark, Arizona Department of Commerce Energy Office Director, presented the awards. Ken Musgrove, Secretary Treasurer for Arizona Industries of the Future was a special presenter in the business category

Awards of Excellence, the highest honor, went to the Town of Eagar, City of Flagstaff, and City of Scottsdale, Arizona Department of Corrections, Tucson Unified School District, Arizona State University, and Arizona Portland Cement.

Awards of Merit were also given to the Town of Sahuarita, City of Mesa, Mohave County, City of Phoenix, City of Tempe, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, AHCCCS, Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Agua Fria Union High School District, Prescott Unified School District, Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District, Tempe Elementary School District, Arizona State University – West, Arizona Portland Cement, Energy Systems Design, Intel Corporation, Rinker Materials, Scottsdale Healthcare, and Western Moulding. The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division received Awards of Merit for four energy-saving projects. The Arizona Department of Administration, Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, Maricopa County, and the City of Tucson all received Awards of Merit for three energy-saving projects. The Boeing Company, Freescale Semiconductor, Dysart Unified School District, and Tucson Unified School District all received Awards of Merit for two energy-savings projects.

Doug Crockett, Energy and Assets Manager for the Tucson Unified School District, was honored with the Energy Advocate of the Year Award.
